Who We Are
We are Windup Robotics, a group of close-knit teams of students from Salem and Windham, New Hampshire. Our focus is on interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education within the FIRST® model.
About FIRST®
FIRST® states, “Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”
Gracious professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST®. It’s a way of doing things that encourages high-quality, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.
What We Do
In FRC (First Robotics Competition), we build a robot in only six weeks from scratch to complete a given task. This robot has to weigh less than 120 pounds.
In FTC (First Tech Challenge), we build our robot all season (Starting at the beginning of September and ending in April). An FTC robot is a tabletop-sized robot.
In FLL and Jr. FLL (First LEGO League), we use LEGO Mindstorm programmable controllers in conjunction with regular LEGO pieces to provide an introduction to STEM for kids.
As we build award-winning robots of all kinds, we learn important lessons about engineering and teamwork. Robotics provides a competitive advantage for students to be accepted into top engineering schools. It also provides scholarship opportunities for students.
